Located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, I am the daughter of Raelee Peirce, a nurturing mother and celebrated parenting coach, and grandaughter of Joanne, a nurturing mother to five children who showed my family what it looks like to embrace motherhood and raise emotionally secure children.
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in Human Development and Family Science. This background, as well as my training in Nurture Neuroscience and Doula work through DONA, help me carry out my vision to help all mothers recognize their innate mother-wisdom and realize the superpower that nurturing is in their parenting practice.
We are not far off from a world that values our mothers, nurtures our babies, and fosters emotional resiliency in our future generations.
“So when you feel challenged by nurture, this is why: You are doing something profound....This is intense, deep work and something to truly be proud of and celebrate.”
― Greer Kirshenbaum, PhD
The nurtured Approach
Valuing the mother-baby connection is the foundation of my work. Embracing a nurturing and sensitive parenting practice promotes a resilient stress system and emotional regulation in your baby. These benefits are not just for our children, the more we encourage nurture, the more parents attune to their baby and their baby's needs. The nurturing mom knows when their baby is hungry, when they are tired, when they need attention or independent play. With nurture, you can ditch the rigid schedules and the meltdowns, and feel more connected and intuitive in your parenting.
Our low-nurture culture confuses responsive parenting for coddling, gentle parenting for permissive parenting, and cosleeping as a bad habit that impedes our child's development. My approach, based on the research from "The Nurture Revolution" by Greer Kirshenbaum, gives parents permission to care for their baby in a way that honors their mother-instincts and their baby's biology. Nurturing is about saying, "I’m here, I see you, you are important to me, you’re safe, " through consistent and responsive care.
